The Disco Biscuits Debut “Above The Waves” At The Wetlands On This Day Back In 1998 [Full Audio]

123

Back in 1998, The Disco Biscuits were starting to settle in to their “trancefusion” stylings and putting on some epic performances that lasted for what seemed like hours on end. The Philadelphia-based band became a staple at NYC’s iconic venue The Wetlands during this time period, at many times testing the patience of the staff due to their penchant for pushing on and playing into the wee hours of the morning.

This was most evident during a 2-night run at the venue leading up to their New Year’s Eve show at Silk City Lounge in Philly. During the first night, the Biscuits played a 4-hour marathon to a sold-out house, which acted as a post-Phish MSG celebration that went until 5 am. “Run Like Hell > Shem-Rah Boo” got things warmed up rather early on, along with the debut of “Above the Waves,” as well as a standout 25-minute version of Frank Zappa‘s “Pygmy Twylyte,” that witnessed some incredible psychedelic jamming which led into the proper ending of “Run Like Hell.” “Magellan” made an appearance during the four-song encore, and “Mr. Don” brought the evening to a close.
