On Friday and Saturday, Warren Haynes will continue a beloved tradition by hosting the 30th Annual Warren Haynes Presents The Christmas Jam at U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, North Carolina to raise funds for Habitat For Humanity. Gov’t Mule, Grace Potter, Jamey Johnson, Marco Benevento, Mike Gordon, Dave Grohl, Eric Church, Jim James and Joe Bonamassa are among those slated to perform. A webcast is available via nugs.tv. This week’s Throwback Thursday features video from the 2012 Christmas Jam.

The 24th annual Christmas Jam took place in Asheville on December 15, 2012 featuring Haynes, Blind Boys of Alabama, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, The Avett Brothers, Sheryl Crow, The String Cheese Incident and the Warren Haynes Band. Christmas Jam 24 was broadcast live on AXS TV before nugs.net started webcasting the charity concerts. Warren kicked off the action with the Blind Boys for a set that included a gorgeous rendition of “Soulshine” aided by Nigel Hall and a guest-filled “John The Revelator.”

Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue went on next and treated attendees to their New Orleans-fueled combination of rock and funk. The Blind Boys helped out on “Down By The Riverside” while Warren contributed to the “Do To Me” finale. Next up was North Carolina’s own The Avett Brothers. Their set included a beautiful take on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas.” The concert rolled on with Crow performing some of her most beloved songs such as “Steve McQueen,” “Can’t Cry Anymore” and “My Favorite Mistake.” Haynes, Shorty and Terence Higgins emerged for a cover of Blind Faith’s “Can’t Find My Way Home.” Warren stuck around for “If It Makes You Happy” and also added to “Run Run Rudolph.”

Cheese provided the penultimate set of the night. The band opened with “Colorado Bluebird Sky” and then brought out Anders Osborne for the pairing of “Joyful Sound” and “Junco Partner.” Unexpected guest Count M’Butu emerged after Anders for SCI original “Can’t Wait Another Day.” A run of “Rivertrance” > “Song In My Head” > “Desert Dawn” was followed by a “Rosie” featuring Karl Denson. The set concluded with Haynes contributing to “Outside & Inside” and a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Quinn The Eskimo.” Osborne, Count M’Butu, Denson and Hall also helped out on “Quinn.”

Warren ended the night by leading his Warren Haynes Band outfit. Count M’Butu sat-in on “River’s Gonna Rise” and “On A Real Lonely Night.” Denson also added to the latter number as well as “Spanish Castle Magic.” Karl D. came back for a cover of Stevie Wonder’s “I Wish” ahead of the set-closing “Pretzel Logic.” The evening’s encore featured a guest-filled version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” that incorporated part of “I’ll Take You There.” Watch the entire concert below:
