The Clearwater Festival, a.k.a. The Great Hudson River Revival will indeed return this year. The 2019 installment of the festival will be held at Croton Point Park in Westchester County, New York June 15 – 16. Look for a lineup announcement soon.
Pete Seeger founded the Clearwater organization decades ago. Executive Director Greg Williams, “said in October 2018 that Clearwater was reassessing programs amid financial difficulties and officials were less willing to take on the up-front cost associated with a large festival,” as per the Poughkeepsie Journal. At the time, when asked about the possibility of a 2019 festival Williamson added, “It’s certainly our intention to do so, but a lot has changed, both inside and outside of Clearwater, since we started having a festival at Croton Point and that’s why we’re looking at multiple options for next year.” In 2016, the festival was canceled due to financial risk before returning the following year.
