New York City’s Webster Hall Announces Return In 2019

The arrival of 2019 for music fans and concert goers in New York City also means the return of one of the city’s beloved venues, Webster Hall. The four-level venue located in the East Village of Manhattan closed its doors for some serious renovations starting back in August 2017, following its ownership acquisition by AEG Live and Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment. Local concert promoter Bowery Presents will now handle the artist bookings when the revamped venue reopens sometime in 2019, although its new owners did not go into detail as to when exactly that will happen.

The venue’s new owners did not waste any time in reminding fans of its existence with a digital rebrand on New Year’s Eve. In addition to updating its logo across its major social media platforms, the venue also shared a brief but trippy animated video showcasing the new brand imagery to go with the subtle copy, “See you in 2019!” The venue’s marketing team also sent out an email to select recipients stating the following:

“To our closest friends, Happy New Year, we’ve missed you! While we’ve been closed, we have made some venue enhancement and think you will dig them. While updates are still underway, we are pleased to say that Webster Hall will return in 2019.”

Rumors have been circulating amongst the NYC music scene in recent months as to what said “venue enhancement” could mean, with some whispers detailing the addition of a restaurant in the space which used to house The Studio part of the venue. Other fun talking points amongst fans have also included which artists will be the first to play the newly renovated club. Notable local acts like Blondie or The Strokes make for possible names who are strong enough to reopen Webster Hall with a bang, in addition to local pop acts like Lady Gaga, Vampire Weekend, or even the surviving members of the Beastie Boys. With new owners who have deep pockets, the possibilities are endless for headlining acts for on the venue’s first night back in operation since summer 2017.

Fans should stay tuned as the venue begins to share more details of its reopening as 2019 continues to unfold in the coming winter months.
