The Newport Folk Festival continues to add acts to its 2019 lineup. Today, organizers have announced that Lukas Nelson & Promise of The Real will return for the second year in a row and will perform on the Friday of this year’s event, which will be held at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island on July 26 – 28.
Organizers of the Newport Folk Festival continue to partner with each act on the bill to donate to a music education charity. Newport Festival Foundation made a donation on behalf of Nelson to Anthropos Arts in Austin. Anthropos hires top local professional musicians to teach and mentor at-risk teens through a series of lessons, rehearsals, and a large concert in downtown Austin. Newport Festivals Foundation’s gift will provide lessons for at-risk teens in the Austin area this spring.
Nelson & POTR join recent additions Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle, who will perform a set together, country-star Kacey Musgraves as well as Charley Crockett and Liz Cooper & the Stampede. Tickets for this year’s Newport Folk Festival are sold out..
