The latest addition to the 2019 Newport Folk Festival lineup is a big one. Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh will team with The Terrapin Family Band on the Friday night of this year’s event, which will be held at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island July 26 – 28.
Organizers of the Newport Folk Festival continue to partner with each act on the bill to donate to a music education charity. Newport Festival Foundation made a donation on behalf of Phil to the Unbroken Chain Foundation. The donation will be used by the Unbroken Chain Foundation to bring music education programs to communities where great needs exist.
Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band join a lineup that already includes supergroup Bonny Light Horseman as well as Cedric Burnside, Haley Heynderickx, Jade Bird, Jeff Tweedy, Todd Snider, Mountain Man, Gregory Alan Isakov and If I Had A Song, which will close out the festival and celebrate festival founder Pete Seeger’s 100th birthday. Tickets for this year’s Newport Folk Festival are sold out.
