The Crystal Method Announces 2019 North American Tour

Grammy-nominated electronic act The Crystal Method, now comprised solely of Scott Kirkland following Ken Jordan‘s retirement, is heading back out on the road in 2019 in support of his new album, The Trip Home. In addition to hitting clubs and venues in over 30 markets throughout North America, The Crystal Method will make an appearance at BottleRock in Napa Valley over Memorial Day weekend.

Along with the announcement of the upcoming tour, The Crystal Method has announced a number of The Trip Home remix releases including an Otosan remix of “Ghost In The City” (due out February 8th) and a Matt Lange remix of “There’s A Difference” (due out February 15th).

The Crystal Method also recently worked on the title theme and sound design for Academy Award-winning filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro‘s new Netflix animated series, 3Below: Tales of Arcadia. As the series’ executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained to SYFY WIRE about The Crystal Method’s work on 3Below,

In Trollhunters we had to create an area, we had to create Troll Market. With 3Below, we had to create an entire world. A big part of that world was the sound design. The score functions here, not just as a score, but really as another environment. Something that tells you that you’re not just on Arikidion 5, that when you’re back on Earth, you’re amongst Arikidion tech. Between The Crystal Method sound which is very futuristic and synth-y, that works hand and glove, with Jeff Danna‘s score, which is that epic sci-fi John Williams-esque score that everyone associates with this kind of material. It wound up being another character in the show. Because of Crystal Method and Jeff’s collaboration, I was thinking a lot more about music on 3Below than I ever did on Trollhunters. That’s a real asset and what helps sets it apart from Trollhunters.
