Last week, Greensky Bluegrass opened up their early-2019 All For Money tour with Circles Around The Sun, stopping in Albany, Philadelphia, and New York City’s Beacon Theatre. With a few days off before their next scheduled show, the two bands made a stop at NYC’s Paste Studio on Monday afternoon.
Greensky Bluegrass is gearing up to release their seventh studio album on January 18th. The follow up to 2016’s Shouted, Written Down & Quoted, Greensky’s new twelve-track record was recorded at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville, NC alongside co-producers Dominic John Davis (Jack White’s longtime bassist) and Glenn Brown. For their Paste studio session, the five-piece worked through three tracks off of their forthcoming studio effort, All For Money.
Greensky Bluegrass opened up their in-studio performance with the Paul Hoffman-led “Collateral Damage”. Following a brief discussion highlighting the band’s choice in title for their new album, the five-piece moved into the Michael Arlen Bont penned number “Cathedral Eyes”. “What You Need”, which was debuted over the summer at the band’s annual Red Rocks Amphitheater run, brought the short Paste Studio performance to a close.

Earlier in the day, Circles Around The Sun flexed their improvisational chops at Paste Studio, working through deep takes on “On My Mind”, “One For Chuck”, and concluded with “Halicarnassus”–all from their 2018 release, Let It Wander.
Circles Around The Sun was formed to compose the set break music at the Grateful Dead’s “Fare Thee Well” concerts in 2015, which later turned into the band’s acclaimed 2015 debut record, Interludes For The Dead.
