Bob Weir & Margo Price Team Up At John Prine Tribute In Los Angeles

204

On Saturday, the Americana Music Association presented the Americana Pre-GRAMMY Salute to John Prine at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. The all-star tribute concert featured appearances from the likes of Bob Weir, Margo Price, Milk Carton Kids, Boz Scaggs, John Paul White, Bettye Lavette and members of the Punch Brothers.

The evening’s festivities, which were capped by Prine taking the stage to sing “Late John Garfield Blues” and “Summer’s End” also included Weir and Price performing a pair of tunes together. The rising country star and the former Grateful Dead rhythm guitar player had previously teamed up last year when Weir brought his Wolf Bros. project to Nashville.

Last night, Weir and Price along with a backing band that included Dave Cobb offered up takes on “Great Rain” from Prine’s 1991 LP The Missing Years and “Angel From Montgomery” from the singer-songwriter’s self-titled debut. Weir handled lead vocals on the former, while Price fronted the ensemble on the latter. Watch fan-shot video from last night below:
