On Sunday, Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds wrapped up their destination event in Riviera Maya, Mexico with a guest-filled performance on the beach. The duo’s final Mexican performance marked the end of a weekend that featured performances from Tyler ChildersValerie June, and Warren Haynes in addition to their own three sets of music.

The duo dug deep into the Dave Matthews Band repertoire for their third of three beachside performances, easing into their Sunday set with fan-favorites like “Don’t Drink The Water”, “When The World Ends”, “Crash Into Me”, “Raven”, “Everyday”, and “The Song That Jane Likes”. Next up was roots standard “Worried Man Blues”, originally popularized by Woodie Guthrie in 1940. The pair’s patented cover of Daniel Lanois‘ “The Maker” came next, followed by “Lover Lay Down” and “So Much To Say”.

A Tim Reynolds solo segment kept the set moving before the two dove into a location-appropriate rendition of “Death on the High Seas” and a well-received “Fool To Think”. From there, the duo welcomed flauist Carlos Malta to add some texture to “One Sweet World”, “Typical Situation”, and another Tim Reynolds solo number. After returning to their core duo for “Time Bomb”, Dave and Tim welcomed a special surprise guest: Brandi Carlile. With Carlile onstage, they worked through the title song from Dave Matthews Band’s 2018 album Come Tomorrow, followed by renditions of “Spoon” and Carlile’s hit tune, “The Joke”.

Carlile made her exit as Dave & Time offered up a touching rendition of “Sister”. From there, the duo had one more surprise to close out the festivities: a sit-in from Warren Haynes. Warren’s appearance marked the second time that day that he and Matthews collaborated after Dave joined in on vocals during Haynes’ solo set earlier in the afternoon on Gov’t Mule‘s “Forsaken Savior”. This was not the first time in recent memory that Warren joined in with Dave onstage. Back in November, the guitarist sat in with Dave Matthews Band for a pair of songs at Madison Square Garden. In Mexico, Haynes helped cap the main set with renditions of Neil Young‘s “Cortez The Killer” and Bob Dylan‘s “All Along The Watchtower”. Finally, Dave returned to open the encore solo with “Some Devil” before Tim rejoined him to finish out the weekend with “Granny” and “Stay”.
