Ghost Light Shares Full-Show Audio From May 2018 Performance At Michigan’s Founders Brewing Company [Listen]

Ghost Light continues their weekly tradition of releasing the official soundboard audio of complete shows from their debut year in 2018. This week’s edition of the relatively new jam band’s “Full Show Friday” initiative features the audio from their performance at Founders Brewing Company in Grand Rapids, MI back on May 17th of last year. The performance came less than two months following their live debut back on March 20th, and showcases the young band really starting to hit their stride as they charged into the spring and summer months.

The arrival of the full-show audio on Friday also came just hours prior to the afternoon announcement that they’ll be heading to New Orleans this spring for a special late night Jazz Fest after-party at Republic NOLA scheduled for Saturday, April 27th.

The 5/17/18 performance saw and heard members Holly BowlingTom Hamilton, Steve Lyons, Raina Mullen, and Scotty Zwang kicking the night off with a gradually-building, 11-minute jam before tearing into their cover of American Babies‘ “Old Time Religion”. If fans listen closely, they should even be able to hear a tease of Dolly Parton‘s “Jolene” within the lengthy opening instrumental jam. The energetically-charged first set continued with the band weaving in and out of one of their new originals, “Keep Your Hands To Yourself” and The Rolling Stones‘ “Sway”, with portions of both songs returning with reprises to close out the first half of the show.

Set two began with “Nickels & Dimes”, another new original, which transitioned into a pair of covers starting with “Simple Gift of Man” by Brothers Past, followed by David Bowie‘s “Lazarus” before returning to “Simple Gift”. Next up was a 16-minute performance of “Diamond Eyes”, followed by a 17-minute rendition of American Babies’ “Fever Dreams”. They returned to the stage for a one-song encore of another American Babies tune, “Bullseye Blues”, which included a crafty “Chariots of Fire” tease woven into the mix. Fans can enjoy listening to the entire performance via the audio player below.
