Hand Habits‘ (Meg Duffy) new album placeholder is available to stream via NPR Music’ First Listen series. Saddle Creek will officially release the new record on March 1.
The 12-track placeholder follows Hand Habits’ debut album Wildly Idle (Humble Before The Void) that Woodist released in 2017. While their debut was made alone at home, Hand Habits recorded placeholder during collaborative sessions at Justin Vernon’s April Base recording facility near Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Between albums, Duffy toured as a member of Kevin Morby’s band and contributed to William Tyler’s just-released album Goes West.
“A big aspect of my songwriting and the way I move through the world depends on my relationships with people,” Duffy stated. “The songs on placeholder are about accountability and forgiveness. These are all real stories. I don’t fictionalize much.”
