HBO’s High Maintenance has joined the list of television shows that have worked in a reference to Phish. Sunday night’s episode entitled Blondie used the Vermont band’s song “Wading In The Velvet Sea” as a bonding moment for a pair characters Barbie and Arthur.
According to Live For Live Music, the scene comes towards the end of the episode after Barbie eats one of Arthur’s cannabis-infused cookies. The song from Phish’s 1998 release Story Of The Ghost plays in the background when Barbie proclaims “I love this! What is this jam? Nice choice there, Arthur.” High Maintenance now joins the likes of Parks & Recreation, The Runaways, It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Modern Family and The Office that have included nods to Phish.
