On March 1, a posthumous collection of Tom Petty’s hits with The Heartbreakers, solo gems and Mudcrutch favorites will be released as The Best Of Everything via Geffen Records/UMe. The 38-track set includes two previously unreleased tracks. While the alternate version of the title track surfaced earlier, the other previously unreleased song – “For Real” – has been shared.
The material in the compilation spans 1976 – 2016. “The Best Of Everything” is a song off the 1985 Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ album Southern Accents. An alternate version found on the set features a never-heard second verse. “For Real” is a “poignant and autobiographical” song unearthed from Petty’s vaults.
