Neil Young & Crazy Horse played the second of two shows in Winnipeg on Monday night, moving to Centennial Concert Hall following Sunday’s concert at Burton Cummings Theatre For The Performing Arts. Night two featured Young’s first live performances of “Wonderin’” since 1996 and “Danger Bird” since 2013.
Young once again started the show solo, selecting “Out On The Weekend” as the opener. Busted out the night before, “Distant Camera” came next, followed by “War Of Man,” “Old King,” “Green Is Blue,” “Don’t Let It Bring You Down” and “Journey Through The Past.”
The second half featured Young accompanied by bassist Billy Talbot, drummer Ralph Molina and guitarist Nils Lofgren, with “Rockin’ In The Free World” starting the full band portion of the night. The unlikely Zuma track “Danger Bird” was then brought out, followed by the equally unexpected rarity “Wonderin’” that first appeared on Young’s album Everybody’s Rockin’. The set was filled in by such classics as “The Losing End,” “Roll Another Number,” “Winterlong,” “Cortez The Killer” and “F*!#in’ Up.” Young and Crazy Horse ended the night with an encore consisting of “Like A Hurricane” and “Hey Hey, My My (Into The Black).”
