In April, famed New York City club Webster Hall will reopen after a 20-month renovation. Webster Hall’s owners BSE Global and Bowery Presents unveiled the initial slate of concerts that will be held at Webster Hall and discussed the renovations with the New York Times.
A big change to Webster Hall is the addition of an elevator. “On a regular tour, whatever city they were in, they’d have two or four loaders,” Bowery Presents’ Jim Glancy said to the Times in regards to venues that have elevators. “At Webster Hall, the minimum would be 12 people.” Plus, the renovated Webster Hall will feature a revamped entryway and lounge, new bathrooms and upgraded acoustics as per the Times. “The vision has always been to maintain the soul, the grit, the history of the venue,” added Brett Yormark, the chief executive of BSE Global, about some of the elements that haven’t been changed. “For fans, they are going to feel like they’re coming home again.”
Opening night will take place in April featuring an act that has yet to be announced. Other upcoming shows of note include Patti Smith on May 1, Sharon Van Etten on May 4, Broken Social Scene on May 16 and 17, MGMT May 22 – 24, Real Estate on June 14, Built to Spill on September 30 and October 1 and Chris Robinson Brotherhood on October 9.
