Bob Weir & Wolf Bros Announce Surprise New York City Shows At Blue Note

Bob Weir and Wolf Bros featuring Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir along with bassist Don Was and drummer Jay Lane will play a pair of shows at the intimate and famed Blue Note Jazz Club in New York City on Monday, March 11 at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. News of the surprise concerts was announced on SiriusXM’s “Tales From The Golden Road” program.

The underplays come in the middle of a 20-date tour that started on Feburary 28 in Ithaca. Weir, Was and Lane finished the first set of shows on Saturday night in Portland, Maine and were scheduled to be off until the first of two nights at Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, New Jersey on Wednesday. Blue Note was opened in 1981 and has hosted a who’s who of jazz musicians since including Dizy Gillespie, Oscar Peterson, Tito Puente, Chick Corea, John Scofield and McCoy Tyner. The venue has a capacity of 200.

Tickets will cost just $25 and each set is expected to last 75 – 90 minutes. Head to Lyte to enter a lottery for a chance to purchase non-transferable tickets. Entries will be accepted through 10 a.m. on Monday morning and the winners will be picked between 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Cell phones will not be permitted. nugs.net will release recordings of the shows for free.
