Mumford & Sons covered “Sweet Home Chicago” with the help of blues singer Sharon Lewis last night in Chicago. The collaboration took place during the encore of Friday’s show at the United Center.
Touring in support of their 2018 album Delta, Mumford & Sons opened the show with the record’s “Guiding Light.” The main set was filled out with additional new songs and selections from their other albums, closing with the Sigh No More favorite “The Wolf.” The encore began with “Timshel” performed around a single microphone and “Awake My Soul” before the emergence of Lewis.
The Chicago-based Texas-native then led a performance of the blues standard first recorded by Robert Johnson. Following “Sweet Home Chicago,” Mumford & Sons ended the evening with “I Will Wait” and the Delta title track.
