The segment makes its debut with Andy Frasco of Andy Frasco and The U.N. who also hosts the popular Andy Frasco’s World Saving Podcast.

This is the first episode of The JamBase Podcast to publish since joining the Osiris podcast network as its media partner. Host Andy Kahn opens the episode with usual “The Rundown” segment recapping recent news since our last episode. AK gives an overview of Osiris, which was co-founded by Phish lyricist Tom Marshall, who hosts the Under The Scales podcast, and RJ Bee who co-hosts the Helping Friendly Podcast. Find all of the Osiris podcasts here, part of the newly redesigned JamBase homepage. “The Rundown” finishes with a look at recent festival announcements like Woodstock 50, Phil Lesh & Friends 79th birthday run at The Capitol Theatre and a few other notible items.

This episode is sponsored by the Dead Oceans record label and the upcoming new Strand of Oaks album Eraserland. You’ll hear “Weird Ways,” one of the singles from the album coming out tomorrow (March 22). Strand Of Oaks leader Timothy Showalter recorded the Eraserland with several members of My Morning Jacket.

The first “Cast Away” interview appropriately took place aboard Jam Cruise 17 and features our own Scott Bernstein. Frasco was on the ship to perform with his band as well as conduct podcast interviews of his own. Andy and Scotty swap stories about their experiences launching music-centric podcasts, with Frasco detailing what led him to start saving the world one podcast at a time. Andy talks about some of the advice he’s received over the years from the likes of Widespread Panic’s Dave Schools, the late Col. Bruce Hampton and others. The two discuss some of Frasco’s memorable moments from interviews he’s conducted on his podcast like Brandon “Taz” Niederauer and Mimi Naja of Fruition. Frasco reveals some of the guests he’d still like to host on his podcast and much more throughout the chat.
