Woodstock 50 organizer Michael Lang denied reports that the 50th anniversary event being held August 16 – 18 at Watkins Glen, New York was facing financial problems. Lang, who co-organized the original 1969 Woodstock festival, told Variety the lineup for this year’s gathering would be announced soon.

“There’s always been lots of rumors around Woodstock,” Lang told Variety. “We have excellent partners and an incredible talent lineup of over 80 artists which will be announced within the next couple of weeks. We’re preparing a once in a lifetime event.”

As Variety notes, a report published by Hits Daily Double claimed “issues regarding the raising of money and venue capacity” delayed the lineup announcement. The same report named Dead & Company, The Killers, Miley Cyrus, Santana, The Black Keys, Chance the Rapper, Jay-Z, Imagine Dragons and Halsey as acts contacted by Woodstock 50 organizers.

A second Woodstock 50th Anniversary event co-promoted by Live Nation will be held this summer at the site of the original festival at Bethel Woods in Bethel, New York. The historic Woodstock festival was first held August 15 – 18, 1969 and featured performances by Santana, Grateful Dead, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, The Band, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and The Who, among several others.
