Billy Strings Welcomes Bryan Sutton For ‘Freeborn Man’ At 2017 DelFest: Pro-Shot Video

This year, DelFest will return to Cumberland, Maryland, from May 23 to 26. For the 12th annual edition of the fan-favorite bluegrass event, DelFest is welcoming back Billy Strings. To promote his upcoming appearance, the festival has now shared a clip of the young guitar prodigy performing with special guest Bryan Sutton during his 2017 set.

During the video, Strings, his band, and Sutton work through the bluegrass classic “Freeborn Man.” Showcasing the amazing chemistry between the two flat pickers, the clip starts with Sutton running through some licks, eliciting Strings to take off his guitar and jokingly leave the stage. However, Strings returns and begins to sing the opening lyrics, though bursts out laughing as he sings the autobiographical lines, “I was born in the Southland/ Twenty some odd years ago.”

From there, the collective offers an explosive nine-and-a-half minute rendition of the tune. Watch the performance below:
