Dave Matthews Appears On ‘The Simpsons’

116

Dave Matthews lent his voice to a bartender in Sunday’s episode of long-running animated series The Simpsons. Matthews character appeared late in the episode titled “Girl’s In The Band” and gave Homer Simpson advice to kill his family, which thankfully he didn’t take.

The plot of the installment focused on Lisa Simpson nearly scoring a spot in the Capitol City Philharmonic. Homer works the night shift at the nuclear power plant in order to support Lisa, which makes things rough on the family. After working so hard he starts to hallucinate, Homer dreams he’s at a party. Homer grabs a few Duff Beers from Lloyd, the bartender voiced by Matthews. Dave tells Homer to put plutonium in salad in order to kill his family. Homer finally wakes up and realizes it was a dream. Lisa notices her family’s angst and winds up failing her rehearsal on purpose.

As mentioned, Dave’s role as the bartender is fitting for an artist who wrote a song titled “Bartender” that appeared on DMB’s 2002 album Busted Stuff and has been a staple of both the band and Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds‘ repertoire since 1999.
