Dave Matthews Band Welcomes Carlos Malta At European Tour Finale In Lisbon

137

Dave Matthews Band closed out their European tour on Saturday with a gig at Altice Arena in Lisbon, Portugal. The septet was joined by their longtime friend Carlos Malta for a run of tunes towards the back end of their 18-song main set.

The Charlottesville-born act opened up their tour finale with “Grey Street” from their 2002 LP Busted Stuff. From there, Matthews & Co. would lean in on fan-favorites delivering takes on the likes of “Funny The Way It Is,” “Stay Or Leave,” “What Would You Say” and “Gravedigger.” Malta, who first sat in with DMB back in 2008, emerged to kick off the back third of the show. With the Brazilian flutist and saxophonist in tow, the ensemble dug in a trio of old-school classics. First up was the seamless pairing of “Dancing Nancies” and “Warehouse,” with Malta also sticking around for “Jimi Thing.”

“Everyday,” “Ants Marching” along with the two-song encore of “Some Devil” and a cover of Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower” helped bring Dave Matthews Band 18-show European trek to an end. Watch fan-shot video captured by Tiago Silva below:
