For the ninth release of their ongoing Full Show Friday series, Ghost Light has shared an official recording of their performance at Center for the Arts in Crested Butte, Colorado from March 28. The quintet delivered a jam-heavy, three-song first set, while an expansive cover of The Shins’ “Simple Song” helped highlight the second frame.
Guitarists Tom Hamilton and Raina Mullen, keyboardist Holly Bowling, drummer Scotty Zwang and bassist Dan Africano would weave in and out of three songs for the entirety of their first stanza. The five-piece looked to Hamilton’s American Babies songbook for “Winter War Games” to get things going. The Flawed Logic cut segued into “Diamond Eyes” and a 16+ minute take on Bob Dylan’s “Tangled Up In Blue.” The quartet would then revist all three songs to finish off the seamless set.
Ghost Light paired “Synth Driver” and “Swimming At Night” to get their second frame of the night off the ground. The Shins’ “Simple Song” followed as “Keep Your Hands To Yourself” was dropped in the midst of the Port Of Morrow cut. An expansive “Doorway To A Silent Chamber” along with a “Fever Dreams” that featured the band revisiting “Synth Driver” helped highlight the back half of their night. Listen to full show audio below:
