Mike Gordon Guests With Worship My Organ In New Orleans

180

Phish bassist Mike Gordon sat-in with supergroup Worship My Organ at the Little Gem Saloon in New Orleans on Sunday night. Worship My Organ’s lineup for the show featured keyboardists Robert Walter and Marco Benevento as well as saxophonist Skerik, turntablist DJ Logic and Lettuce drummer Adam Deitch.

Gordon, who counts Walter among the members of his five-piece, will bring his eponymous band to New Orleans for the first time this Friday, May 3 at the Joy Theater. Worship My Organ performances have been a staple of the Jazz Fest night show schedule for nearly a decade. The band generally focuses on exploratory improvisation and the part of Sunday’s show with Mike Gordon was no exception. While Mike is best known for his bass playing, he played keys with Worship My Organ. Gordon did play bass notes on a Moog synth during part of the jam.
