George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Kurt Vile & The Violators and Guster are just three of the hundreds of acts set to play SummerStage in 2019. The City Parks Foundation announced the lineup and schedule of nearly 100 free and benefit shows that will be held this season in New York City’s Central Park and throughout the five boroughs.
SummerStage’s flagship venue in Central Park has undergone a huge, $5.5 million renovation that includes a new stage and sound system, enhanced lighting, new and raised seating areas and backstage facilities. Emily King and Durand Jones & the Indications will play opening night of the transformed venue on June 1. Other concerts set for SummerStage in Central Park include Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic with Galactic, Fishbone and Dumpstaphunk on June 4; Khruangbin and Kikagaku Moyo on June 20; Kurt Vile & The Violators with Dinosaur Jr. on July 25; Guster and Rubblebucket on August 8 and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard on August 28.
