Neil Young and Promise of The Real closed out a two-night stand at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle on Tuesday night that marked the group’s first performances of 2019. Promise Of The Real drummer Anthony Logerfo’s birthday was celebrated with a round of “Happy Birthday To You” sung by the band and the audience at the end of last night’s main set.
Young & POTR played seven songs on Tuesday that didn’t make the setlist on opening night. Neil started the concert solo with a portion of the night that included recently debuted numbers “Think Of Me,” “Green Is Blue” and “Olden Days” along with such classics as “Heart Of Gold,” “After The Gold Rush” and “Comes A Time.” Promise Of The Real joined in for the rest of the main set.
Lukas Nelson had a turn fronting the band on “Turn Off The News,” the title track from his forthcoming studio album with Promise Of The Real. Then, Micah Nelson led the ensemble on his own “Everything Is Bullshit.” The biggest treat of the night came next as Neil & POTR took “Down By The River” out for a spin. The set ended with new numbers “Rainbow Of Colors” and “She Showed Me Love” followed by the anthem “Rockin’ In The Free World” and the aforementioned “Happy Birthday To You.”
The concert concluded with a two-song encore. Up first was “Roll Another Number” and then came a recently debuted tune tentatively titled “Right By Her Side.” Now, Young & Promise Of The Real head to Oregon for a performance in Eugene on Thursday night before they headline Bottlerock on Saturday.
