STS9 Plays Virtual Concert For Minecraft’s Pixel Fest

169

On April 7, STS9 performed a virtual music festival, Pixel Festival, within Minecraft. Now, the pioneering jamtronica band has released a livestream of their set recorded within the Microsoft video game.

STS9 began their set with “Strange Games,” the track they debuted at Bonnaroo last year that mixes their own “Get Loud” with samples of Outkast’s “ATLiens.” From there, the group used “When The Dust Settles Reprise” into another recent track “Menacer.” Returning to 2015’s When The Dust Settles EP, the group offered up a shimmering rendition of “Golden Gate” ahead of another 2018 debut, “Balancing” featuring Armanni Reign.

To close out their 50-minute set, the group first offered a drum-heavy take on “New Dawn, New Day,” off 2016’s The Universe Inside. As their oldest song of the performance, the group looked back to their seminal 2005 LP Artifact, offering up “Music, Us.” To close out the show, the group offered up their recently revived cover of drum-and-bass act Roni Size & Reprazent’s “New Forms.”
