On May 13, The New Mastersounds announced their new album, Shake It, which the British funk outfit will release on September 13 via Color Red. Later in the week, on Thursday, May 16, the quartet stopped by Paste Studio in New York City’s Manhattan Center as part of their 20th-anniversary tour to perform three tracks off the forthcoming LP.
For the performance, which was live-streamed on Paste Magazine’s social accounts, the band was joined by vocalist Lamar Williams Jr. The group first moved through “Let’s Go Back,” which was recently released as the first official single off Shake It, ahead of a brief discussion with guitarist Eddie Roberts, who explained the history of the collaboration. Next, up the band performed a take on title track “Shake It” before closing out their 17-minute set with “Love They Deserve.”
