Tool Debuts First New Music In More Than A Decade At Welcome To Rockville [Videos]

Following more than a decade of waiting and years of conflicting reports about a new albumTool has finally debuted some new music. The band forecasted the live debuts earlier this week in a meme posted to their social media accounts. On the image, frontman Maynard James Keenan is seen pondering the new material (“Feelin cute. Might play some new material on this upcoming tour. idk”).

During their headlining set at Welcome to Rockville festival in Jacksonville, FL—their first show in nearly a year—the prog rock favorites introduced two brand new songs, “Descending” and “Invincible”, which will presumably appear on their forthcoming album. The of pair of live debuts marks the first new music from Tool since the release of their 2006 album, 10,000 Days. You can watch crowd-shot videos of the two new songs below:

Tool is in the midst of a brief run of U.S. spring tour dates including headlining slots at Epicenter FestivalChicago Open Air Festival, and more. From there, the band will head overseas for a stretch of European dates. Fans can check out the band’s website for a full list of upcoming Tool dates.

While to status of the forthcoming new album is still unclear, the fact that they’re starting to break out new material seems to indicate that it’s coming sooner rather than later. Stay tuned for more updates.
