On Friday night, Umphrey’s McGee offered up a two-set performance at Charlotte, NC’s Charlotte SHOUT! Festival held at Romare Bearden Park.

Following an opening set from G. Love & Special Sauce, Umphrey’s McGee opened up their first frame with “Remind Me”, a collaboratively written tune off of the band’s 2018 It’s Not Us release. The six-piece charged forward with tenacity as they sandwiched “Sociable Jimmy” in between an exploratory “Nemo”. Umphrey’s continued on with “Roulette” and “Triple Wide” before inviting up G. Love and Ryan Stasik‘s Doom Flamingo bandmate, Mike Quinn, for a cover of The Rolling Stones‘ “Can’t You Hear Me Knocking”. The ensemble tore up the Sticky Fingers cut for only the third time ever, bringing their electric first set to a close.

Following a brief setbreak, the band returned to open their second set with “Nothing Too Fancy”, which would ultimately be left open-ended and finished as the set-closer. Moving out of “Nothing Too Fancy”, Umphrey’s McGee coasted into “Partyin’ Peeps”, followed by fan-favorites “Bridgeless”, “Attachments”, “Wappy Sprayberry”, and “Glory”. “Glory” gave way to an explosive segue back into “Nothing Too Fancy” to close out the second set. The band returned to deliver a lone encore of Pink Floyd’s “Comfortably Numb”.
