Eric Krasno Announces ‘Telescope’ Concept Album, Shares Animated Trailer [Watch]

Eric Krasno is a busy man as of late. The acclaimed guitarist is gearing up for the return of Soulive with two weekends worth of shows at New York City’s Brooklyn Bowl next month. Krasno appears to be in the Brooklyn mood at this point in his career, as on Thursday he announced a forthcoming concept album under the name KRAZ titled, Telescope, themed around the residents of a brownstone in the NYC borough of Brooklyn.

The announcement on Thursday didn’t reveal too much information about the project in terms of who all will appear on the concept album. A trailer shared with the Telescope‘s announcement only revealed it will tell “the story of a Brooklyn brownstone and the characters living within.” Think of the album as a musical version of the 1990’s animated series Hey Arnold, just without the Oskar Kokoschka character begging for money every five minutes.

Krasno did share a one-minute video trailer to go with the announcement, which features some wonderfully unique animation courtesy of Josh Clark Studios, along with some of the music to appear on the album. Watch and listen to the new teaser trailer below.

Krasno also introduced the new Facebook and Instagram pages for his new KRAZ alias, although it’s not clear at the moment whether its a full band or just himself with guest collaborators.

Speaking of guest collaborators, Krasno and his Soulive bandmates also recently announced the special guests who will join them for the two-week “Bowlive” run next month. Weekend one will feature guest appearances by Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk) on July 11th, Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company) on July 12th, and John Scofield on July 13th. Weekend two will feature guitarist Marcus King on July 18th, bassist George Porter Jr. (The Meters) on July 19th, and finally  Sam Kininger (Lettuce) to help close the run on July 20th.

Head to the Brooklyn Bowl website for ticket info on the upcoming shows.
