Elton John‘s career as a touring musician may be winding down, but his star power continues to heat up in Hollywood thanks to the new smash hit 2019 biopic, Rocketman. The film stars Taron Egerton as John, and even allows the young actor to show off his actual singing abilities with his recorded performances throughout the biopic. Egerton got the chance to show off his best Elton John impersonation over the weekend during one of the famous pianist’s farewell performances at Sussex CCC in Brighton and Hove, U.K.
A new, pro-shot video shared on Monday showcases the surprise duet between the two entertainers of John’s beloved ballad, “Your Song”, which took place during the outdoor show on Sunday. Egerton didn’t wear sunglasses as stylish as John’s, but he did make a point to show support for the LGBTQ community within the audience with rainbow colors striped across his shirt. The video doesn’t show the entire performance, but enough to showcase Egerton’s lead vocal skills in addition to the two singing the trademark chorus lines together.

This is not the first time that the two have shared the stage together since Egerton came on to transform himself into a younger Elton John for the film. The two teamed up to perform “Rocket Man” together during the film’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival last month.
John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour continues its European leg this week before returning to North America one final time beginning on September 13th with a show at San Francisco’s Chase Center. Head to John’s website for tickets and tour info.
