British psych-rock outfit Temples has announced the forthcoming release of their next studio album, Hot Motion, due out on September 27th via ATO Records. The new studio album will be the band’s first since 2017’s Volcano, and their first overall release through ATO Records.
According to the band’s announcement via press release, the forthcoming album will look to take the band’s sound into “deeper, darker creative” territory. This should come as a welcoming contrast to the band’s previous material which varies from 1960s-era feel-good psychedelia to more modernized indie rock. The quartet also shared the album’s energizing and powerful-yet-dreamy lead single/title track to go with the overall announcement on Wednesday. “It felt like there was a darker edge to what we were coming up with and we wanted to make sure that carried through the whole record,” said bassist Thomas Walmsley mentioned in a statement of their latest studio effort. “It’s not a ten track, relentless rock record from start to finish, it’s got a lot of light and shade and more tender moments, but that heavier, darker sound is something we wanted to explore further.”
The band also announced its plans for a world tour set for this fall beginning with their appearance at California’s Desert Daze Festival in mid-October, and continuing until early December. Some of the notable stops along the North American leg of their fall tour includes an appearance at New Orleans’ Voodoo Music Experience leading up to Halloween weekend, in addition to NYC’s newly-renovated Webster Hall on November 7th.
Tickets for the band’s 2019 fall tour go on sale this Friday, June 7th, at 10 a.m. Local. Head to the band’s website for tickets and tour info. Fans can also pre-order Hot Motion here.
