Brooklyn-based nine-piece funk outfit Turkuaz has shared pro-shot video of “Electric Habitat”, the third of their four-part “Live At Higher Ground” series.
In April, Turkuaz offered up a performance at Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground as part of their 2019 spring tour. The band—comprised of Dave Brandwein (guitar/vocals), Taylor Shell (bass), Craig Brodhead (guitar/synths), Michelangelo Carubba (drums), Greg Sanderson (saxophone), Joshua Schwartz (saxophone/vocals), Chris Brouwers (trumpet/keyboard), Sammi Garett (vocals/percussion), and Shira Elias (vocals)—worked through an improv-heavy take on “Electric Habitat”, off of their 2014 Future 86 LP.
Turkuaz’s new video release comes on the heels of the band’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre performance last weekend, which saw members of Turkuaz join Umphrey’s McGee throughout both of their sets, following their own opening set. Members of Turkuaz joined Umphs for a cover of The Beatles‘ “With A Little Help From My Friends”, which was dedicated to the late Jeff Austin. The bands also collaborated on the Umphrey’s McGee debut of Al Green’s “Take Me To The River”, a song that was later recorded and popularized by the Talking Heads.
