Following the news of Dr. John‘s death on Thursday, beloved New Orleans radio station WWOZ is paying tribute to the Crescent City music hero with an on-air marathon of his music.
Dr. John, New Orleans Music Icon, Dies At Age 77
The non-profit, community-supported station always devotes its programming to music imbued with, born from, and inspired by the spirit and culture of New Orleans. On a somber day like today, you can be sure that all of NOLA has the Doctor on their minds. As WWOZ (90.7 FM) noted in a post this morning, you can tune in “today, and in the coming days, for much more Dr. John music on our airwaves.”
You can tune in to a live stream of the WWOZ Dr. John programming here and follow along with their ongoing playlist of Mac Rebennack classics.
Rest easy, Dr. John.
