Perry Farrell has spent the last three decades establishing his Lollapalooza Festival as one of the premier music event brands in North America and other parts of the world. Now, the Jane’s Addiction singer hopes to bring his annual festival to fans in the U.K. in the coming years.

The Lollapalooza brand already produces its alt-rock and alt-pop festivals in countries outside of the U.S. including Paris, South America’s Chile, Argentina, and Brazil, and for the first time in 2019, Stockholm. Ferrell is now deep in the planning process to take his empire across the pond to a country which already hosts major festivals including GlastonburyIsle of Wight Festival, and Download Festival, just to name a few.

“There are two overriding reasons for that,” Farrell told British music publication NME in regards to why there hasn’t been a Lollapalooza UK yet. “The first reason was that I didn’t want to come here until I had something that would be unique, that I felt I could contribute to your culture. It’s also a smart business move because I’m now going to crowd in on what you would call a bloody water – if there had been sharks in the water devouring the marketplace.”

Farrell continued, “So I’m very, very close to having something extremely unique. In the next two or three years, I will give it a go.”

This year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago’s Grant Park featured notable performances from Ariana Grande, Childish Gambino, Twenty One Pilots, The Strokes, Tame Impala, Flume, The Chainsmokers, and J Balvin, just to name a few.
