Three senior Hong Kong police officers say they are not aware of any plans for the Chinese military to join efforts to quell mass demonstrations. Satellite photos collected Monday show what appear to be armored personnel carriers and other vehicles belonging to the China’s paramilitary People’s Armed Police parked in a sports complex in Shenzhen, a mainland city bordering Hong Kong. Hong Kong police have maintained that they are capable of handling the increasingly chaotic and sometimes violent protests themselves.
