Hassan Rouhani’s comments to reporters Friday came immediately after returning from the U.N. General Assembly meetings in New York. Many observers saw that trip as an opportunity for a possible meeting between Rouhani and President Donald Trump. Tensions between Washington and Tehran have been heightened since the U.S. unilaterally pulled out of a nuclear agreement with Iran last year.
