Wine Enthusiast has named its top 100 new wines of 2019, and you can pick up their top pick for just $18 a bottle. Yep, you read that right.
This year’s winner is Nino Franco NV Rustico Brut (Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore). Priced at an absurdly affordable $18, the budget Italian wine was awarded a numerical score of 94 by a panel of experts who factored in quality-to-price ratios, drinkability, and availability.
Coming in at a close second is the Williams Selyem 2017 Pinot Noir from Sonoma County, which was awarded 98 points but carries a steeper SRP of $39. While the most expensive wine featured—Domaine de la Janasse 2016 Vieilles Vignes Red (Châteauneuf-du-Pape)—costs $114, the list’s median price is $33, making it accessible to wine lovers everywhere.
All in all, 22,000 examples from 16 different countries were ranked by the magazine’s vino-obsessed team, including those from lesser-known wine regions in Georgia, Israel and Uruguay, re-emerging Italian regions like Puglia, Abruzzo and Emilia-Romagna, and growing hot spots in the U.S., like Virginia and New York.
