Bugatti’s $18.9 million La Voiture Noire debuted as the world’s most expensive new vehicle at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Only one example of the gorgeous hypercar was made, but well-heeled gearheads can still experience some of its head-turning style by picking up one of two special-edition Chirons.
The Chiron Noire Élégance and Chiron Noire Sportive are homages to La Voiture Noire, which itself served as a a totally modern take on company founder Jean Bugatti’s Type 57 SC Atlantic. As its title suggests, the former was designed with a focus on elegance. Black exposed carbon covers adorn the body, the grille features a centered Bugatti “Macaron” emblem, and murdered-out brake calipers are installed behind “Caractere” wheels. A matte polished aluminum finish appears on the exterior’s signature C-line and the 8.0-liter 16-cylinder’s engine cover.
More black accents are found inside the Chiron Noire Elegance. The “Inner Signature Line”—curved in the style of the outer C-line—is made of aluminium with a silk-matte finish. “Noire” inscriptions appear on the door sills, center console and headrests. A carbon badge inlaid in the center armrest solidifies the ride’s exclusivity.
Meanwhile, the Chiron Noire Sportive is even more menacing. The exterior elements, C-shaped line, wheels, front spoiler, radiator grille, engine cover and quad-titanium exhaust are all matte black. Additionally, the interior’s aluminium trim parts, inner C-line, switches, push-buttons and rotary knobs, steering wheel, center console, door handles and embroidered “Noire” inscription are all finished in matte black.
Only 20 cars—that total includes the both the Elegance and Sportive trims—will be sold for a cool $3.32 million each. But remember, your’re not just paying for these aesthetic upgrades. That aforementioned W16 from the “base” Chiron cranks out 1,500 horsepower and is good for a 261-mph top speed, making it one of the fastest cars available today. Expect the mammoth engine to perform accordingly in the special edition Chiron Noires.
