Ali Baba’s Tahini Shares New Album ‘Bottom Feeders’

123

Ali Baba’s Tahini released a new studio album entitled Bottom Feeders. The band features guitarist Jake Cinninger, who was a member of Ali Baba’s Tahini prior to joining Umphrey’s McGee in 2000, along with Karl Engelmann, Steve Krojo and Justin Powell.

The last Ali Baba’s Tahini studio album was 2010’s Living Room. The 12-track Bottom Feeders was recorded at Cinninger’s Boondock Studio in Niles, Michigan over the course of two years.

“We started the sessions in Niles on one of the coldest and snowiest weeks of the winter in January of 2018,” Engelmann reflects. “I drove up from Hayesville, North Carolina with my Gretsch guitar, hollow back banjo, and some idea of what songs we wanted to try and lay down. But as most sessions do, the songs that we recorded ended up being the ones that fit the mood of the studio environment, more or less snowed in but insulated which made things still, dark, quiet and cozy.”

Bottom Feeders is available to stream, download and is the first of the band’s albums to be pressed to vinyl. The vinyl edition comes bundled with a 7-inch single containing a song Jake performs with Umphrey’s McGee, “Resolution.” Stream Bottom Feeders below:
