Dezron Douglas Shares ‘Solomon Grundy’ Single

110

Dezron Douglas shared a new single, “Solomon Grundy.” The track is the follow-up to the bassist’s 2018 EP Black Lion.

The single features Douglas accompanied by a different group of musicians than those on the EP. For the new single, Douglas was joined at Breeding Ground Studio in Brooklyn by Aaron Burnett and Chelsea Baratz on tenor saxophones, Surya Botofasina on keyboards and Dexter Pettiway on drums.

“This track is an ode to redemption!,” said Douglas. “What started out as a rally cry for my beloved NY Giants became a theme for one of my favorite villains, Solomon Grundy (adversary of Batman). My Solomon Grundy is fighting for peace and love the best way he knows how.”

Douglas, who regularly collaborates with Jennifer Hartswick and others, is a current member of several bands, including The Ravi Coltrane Quartet, The David Murray Octet, Enrico Rava/Joe Lovano Quintet and The Louis Hayes Jazz Communicators. Listen to “Solomon Grundy” below:
