Dr. Martens and A Bathing Ape Unveil Re-Issue of Classic 1460 Boots

200

The first pair of Dr. Martens 1460 boots rolled off the production line at a factory in Northamptonshire, England on April 1, 1960–the
“1.4.60” date inspiring the now-iconic boot’s name.

With its signature yellow stitching, heel-loop and air-cushioned “Bouncing Soles”, Docs were initially worn by workers who toiled on their feet all day and valued the boots’ comfort and durability. Later, Docs were famously adopted by youthful punk rock tribes of the 1980s and grungy fashionistas of the 1990s, and plenty of folks are still stomping around in them today.

To celebrate the upcoming 60th anniversary of its 1460 boots, Dr. Martens is collaborating with 12 brands, labels and designers for a series of new limited edition releases. The first collab comes via A Bathing Ape, the Japanese streetwear label known for its distinctive camo prints. The Dr. Martens x BAPE 1460 boot features BAPE camo and star logo, yellow laces, and a side zipper for easy on-and-off access.

They’re available beginning January 25 at drmartens.com and from select partners, with future collabs to drop every month throughout 2020.
