Sturgill Simpson Covers ‘Bell Bottom Blues’ In London

163

Sturgill Simpson covered Derek & The Dominos’ “Bell Bottom Blues” at his show last night in London. The cover of the song co-written by British guitar legend Eric Clapton came early in the performance on Tuesday at O2 Forum Kentish Town.

Simpson and his band mates opened the concert with “Brace for Impact (Live a Little),” which was one of five songs played off 2016’s A Sailor’s Guide to Earth. The band then offered their take on the Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs classic “Bell Bottom Blues,” one of a few covers that made the setlist along with Willie Nelson’s “I’d Have To Be Crazy,” When In Rome’s “The Promise” and William Bell’s “You Don’t Miss Your Water.” The focus of Simpson’s set was his 2019 album Sound & Fury as each of its 10 tracks was performed by the show’s end.
