Public radio program Live From Here posted a behind-the-scenes video of host Chris Thile leading the house band on a cover of Paul Simon‘s “Gone At Last.” The footage was recorded at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Virginia after the episode that aired on June 1, 2009.
Simon, who would later appear on Live From Here last November, released “Gone At Last” as the lead single from his 1975 album, Still Crazy After All These Years. The original recording contained backing vocals provided by Phoebe Snow and The Jessy Dixon Singers. Simon’s album went on to win the 1976 Grammy Award for Album Of The Year.
Accompanying the mandolin playing Live From Here host was a house band comprised of music director Mike Elizondo on bass, Shaun Martin on piano, Brittany Haas on fiddle, Ryan Scott on guitar and Marcus Gilmore on percussion. Watch their performance of “Gone At Last” below:
