Dave Matthews Band headlined a number of stops on the 1996 H.O.R.D.E. Tour. On July 18, the traveling festival hit Mud Island Amphitheatre in Memphis, where DMB frontman Dave Matthews wore a hidden camera in his laminate for footage that aired on the short-lived MTV series Bootleg.

The episode of Bootleg featured excerpts of DMB’s performing “So Much To Say” and “Too Much” at Mud Island. Dave sported a hidden camera as he walked around the parking lot at the venue. Few noticed the South African native. At one point, Matthews chats with Blues Traveler frontman John Popper and asks him to sit-in at a future show. He also talks with DMB drummer Carter Beauford about the extremely humid weather. Then, Dave gives the camera to the band’s tour manager to capture footage right before DMB takes the stage and during their set.

Bootleg‘s H.O.R.D.E.-centric episode also followed Lenny Kravitz, Rusted Root and Blues Traveler around. Excerpts of Rusted Root performing “Send Me On My Way,” Blues Traveler’s “Hook” and “Say Antyhing” and Kravitz’s “Can’t Get You Off My Mind” and “Are You Gonna Go My Way?” were included in the 90-minute special.
