Les Claypool, Mike Gordon, Phil Lesh & More Perform ‘D’s Diner’ At 2005 Jammys

141

Three of rock’s most influential bassists teamed up for a performance on April 26, 2005 at the Jammys ceremony/concert in New York City. Les Claypool led a take on his own “D’s Diner” at The Theater At Madison Square Garden that also featured Phish bassist Mike Gordon, Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh and more.

In addition to the three bassists, the “D’s Diner” at the fifth annual Jammys included Joe Russo on drums, keyboardist Marco Benevento and Gabby La La on sitar. Claypool originally released “D’s Diner” — which takes its name for a restaurant in Sebastopol, California — on his 2002 The Les Claypool Frog Brigade album Purple Onion. Les was joined by Fishbone bassist Norwood Fisher and Weapon of Choice bassist Lonnie Marshall for the studio version.
