127

Primus will perform all of Rush‘s A Farewell To Kings LP during each stop of their spring and summer tour. Wolfmother, Battles and The Sword are aboard as support for select dates of the “A Tribute To Kings” tour.

Rush released A Farewell To Kings in 1977 and it was the first album by the band Primus bassist Les Claypool heard. Primus will perform a set of their own material before playing A Farewell To Kings. “We settled on Kings, because A) it was the first Rush record I ever heard and B) it contains ‘Cygnus X-1,’ which has always been my favorite Rush tune,” Claypool told Rolling Stone. “It seems to be a good one for us to tackle; 2112 seemed a little obvious.” Primus recently added a cover of “Cygnus X-1” to their sets.

The tour begins at The Pavilion At Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas on May 26. From there, Primus and company hit Houston, Austin, New Orleans, Asheville, Orlando, Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Cincinnati and Columbus. Primus appears to Bonnaroo on June 12 and then the tour resumes with stops in Richmond, Baltimore, New York City, Philadelphia, Asbury Park, Essex Junction (Vermont), Boston, Wallingford (Connecticut), Sterling Heights (Michigan), Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Lafayette (New York), Westbrook (Maine), Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Chicago, Maryland Heights (Missouri), Kansas City, Denver, Salt Lake City, Berkeley (California), Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boise, Bonner (Montana), Redmond (Washington), Troutdale (Oregon), Spokane, Bend, Paso Robles (California), San Diego and Phoenix.
