Railroad Earth Performs ‘OurVinyl Sessions’ & Welcomes Kyle Tuttle In Louisville

59

Railroad Earth recorded a set for the OurVinyl Sessions video series that has been shared. The band continued their winter tour last night in Louisville, where they brought out banjoist Kyle Tuttle for a song at the Mercury Ballrom.

Tuesday’s RRE show found the band augmented by keyboardist Matt Slocum and multi-instrumentalist Mike Robinson as they have been for a good part of the last two years. Railroad Earth opened with “Mission Man” and then worked “Saddle Of The Sun” into “Just So You Know.” The frame rolled on with such diverse material as “The Cuckoo,” “Game Band Strut,” “Any Road” and “Bowling Green.”

Last night’s second set began with “Chasin’ A Rainbow” before the band bled “The Hunting Song” into “Bread & Water.” A few songs later, RRE delivered a run of “Slippin’ Away” into “The Forecast” into “12 Wolves.” Kyle Tuttle, who spent three years touring as part of the Jeff Austin Band, added to the latter. The band ended the set with “Runnin’ Wild” and covered “Catfish John” as the encore.

Railroad Earth recorded their OurVinyl Sessions set at Nashville’s Cannery Ballroom. The band performed the eponymous “Railroad Earth” as well as “Mighty River” and “Storms.” Watch the 17-minute performance below:

In other Railroad Earth news, the band recorded a session at Diamond Street Studios for Osiris podcast Inside Out With Turner & Seth. Additionally, frontman Todd Sheaffer stuck around to discuss how the band made their way through the loss of founding member Andy Goessling, how Col. Bruce Hampton introduced them to bassist Andrew Altman, the night his former band — From Good Homes — opened for RatDog on the night Jerry Garcia died and more. Listen to the episode below:
